One playbook, four industries. Why the same pattern works for recruiting, real estate, finance, and food packaging.

We ship the same architectural pattern across wildly different verticals. Here's the thesis and the proof.

People ask: "How can you possibly understand my industry?"

It's a fair question. Foundry has shipped operator-facing systems for a recruiting business, a real estate media company, a real estate photo QC business, and a merchant cash advance financial services firm. We've also run diagnostics for food co-packers, dental groups, construction GCs, and several adjacent verticals.

The honest answer: we don't try to understand your industry the way a vertical-specific software company does. We understand the pattern underneath your industry.

Here's the thesis.

What's actually the same across operationally-mature businesses

Every business we've worked with shares the same shape:

  • Operations are dialed. Whatever they make or deliver, they make or deliver well. 5 years, 20 years, 40 years of operational excellence. The physical or operational layer is humming.

  • The digital surface is broken. The website looks like 2014. The CRM is a glorified inbox. The lead form goes to someone's email and sits for days. The aging-prospect follow-up is "we'll get to it." The internal handoffs require retyping data three times.

  • The gap is widening. The same operators who built the operational excellence don't have the time or the technical instincts to fix the digital side. They've tried hiring marketing-ops people and consultants. The tools they bought eight years ago are now liabilities.

  • There's no obvious next step. Build a new website? Hire a CMO? Buy more SaaS? Each option has visible cost and unclear ROI. So the gap stays.

Every industry has its own jargon, its own buyer personas, its own regulatory backdrop. But the shape of the gap is identical. And the pattern that fixes it is identical too.

The pattern

Four layers, applied in this order:

1. Intelligent data layer. One source of truth for every record in the business. Self-cleaning, self-researching, real-time across every surface. Built on Postgres (we use Supabase). Read the deep dive.

2. Operator console. Every internal-facing screen surfaces a recommended next action. AI is the brain, human is the operator. The team's cognitive load drops 5-10x. Read the deep dive.

3. Public surfaces. Every external-facing surface (website, lead form, candidate portal, client review experience) wired into the same data layer with consistent brand, fast load, and no broken links. SEO infrastructure layered in from day one.

4. Automations + content engine. The work nobody wants to remember (follow-ups, missing-info chases, status notifications, blog publishing) handled by cron jobs and AI agents. The work that requires judgment still done by the human.

These four layers compose into a complete operating system. Different industries get different specific implementations, but the architectural skeleton is identical.

Why the pattern works across verticals

Three reasons.

The work most teams do is more similar than they think. Recruiting a video editor, qualifying a real estate lead, and onboarding a co-packing client all involve: intake of a person or company, scoring against criteria, follow-up cadences, document collection, decision logging, handoff to the next stage. The vocabulary differs. The structure doesn't.

AI flattens vertical expertise. Five years ago, a vertical-specific software company won because they knew how to model your industry's quirks. Today, a well-designed AI agent reads your existing documents, watches your existing workflows, and learns the quirks itself. The vertical knowledge moat is smaller than it used to be.

The bottleneck is execution, not domain expertise. Your industry already has consultants, software vendors, agencies. The reason your operation hasn't been transformed yet isn't because nobody understood the industry. It's because nobody shipped the actual systems.

The proof

Four live deployments, four different verticals, same architectural pattern:

  • Staffify — recruiting agency, $6M annual revenue. Operator console + intelligent data layer + content engine + intake automation.
  • AutoQC — autonomous real estate photo QC business. End-to-end automation, zero-humans-in-loop operation.
  • Flylisted — real estate media multi-vertical funnel. AI concierge + multi-buyer intake routing.
  • AKhan Funding — merchant cash advance + payment processing. Premium marketing surface with embedded conversion.

Different industries. Different buyer personas. Different compliance backdrops. Same pattern. All in production.
